Do I need to have done the Introductory Workshop in Crystal Healing to do the Diploma Course?
No. The Introduction Course is run so that students can get some of the very basics to work with crystals safely, on their own. The Intro also gives people who are unsure a chance to see if they do want to study crystal and energy healing at the Academy. Everything on the Introduction day is then covered in greater depth early on in the Diploma Course. The Introductory Course carries no professional qualification on its own.
If a student decides the Diploma Course is not the right one for them during their training do they have to pay for the whole course or just a part?
If a student decides the course is not for them at any point during the two years, they only pay for the course up until the point when they leave. For example, if a student has paid in advance for the first year, but decided to leave after week-end three, then they would be reimbursed for the four weekends they didn't do, on a pro-rata basis.
Why is it that there are other courses that offer a Diploma qualification in Crystals in only a few weekends, yet the Academy course is two years part-time?
A two-year course in Crystal Healing is actually the minimum standard rather than the maximum. Working with crystals can be life changing, and they are very powerful tools not to be underestimated. All healing schools that belong to the Federation of Subtle Energy Medicine require a minimum two year training period in crystal healing. Over twenty years ago, when the first professional courses in Crystal Healing were created, they consisted of only six weekends. However, it was realised fairly quickly that this was insufficient for those who wished to work professionally as Crystal Healers. Standards were therefore implemented by the authorities in the field at that time of a minimum 180 hour tutor led Diploma training, to be facilitated over two years.
Why does it take a minimum of 2 years (28 days tuition) to qualify?
The main reason is that we use crystals (as well as other tools). In order to be able to perceive and assess the various energy systems in a human being takes time. There are several levels within the auric field; there are the seven main chakras which also have levels and which can be out of kilter in various ways. They can be blocked, over active, under active, fragile, in a state of acute change and so forth. Each of these states require the use of different type crystals. Then there are energy lines (not meridians) which indicate how an individual moves through (deals with) their life experiences. On energetic levels each human being is unique, with an energy field that is constantly changing, so one cannot possibly use a set format, which is why a healer needs to acquire extensive knowledge and experience of many different crystals.
Students also have to learn a number of healing techniques that can be used in a safe and responsible manner. All of this also requires the development of intuitive abilities, being able to link to and channel energies and it also involves inner work, for to be able to channel energy effectively requires a lot of personal self-development, and an ability to recognise and work on transforming one's own issues. It also takes self-awarness and inner knowledge to avoid projecting or taking on the patterns of clients who come for healing.
Although healers can start practicing professionally after having successfully completed the two year programme there is post graduate training available which involves a further two years which the leads to a specialist qualification.
Why do you not run correspondence courses?
It is our view that, whilst correspondence courses work very well for purely academic or theory based courses, they are not suitable for a course that involves a healer training. The majority of the work involved in becoming a healer is practical and experiential. This should be done under direct tutor supervision in order to avoid serious error.
I have already trained in and/or have qualifications in Energy work/Reiki/Shamanic healing. Can this be taken into account?
In our experience, those individuals who are already qualified in other energy therapies have found this served as an excellent foundation for doing the Crystal and Energy Healing Diploma. Nobody has ever found anything repetitive and they found the course content very interesting and innovative. A few had so much experience they did not have to do the Energy Healing Case Studies. All of these practitioners had attended a lengthy (at last two years) training elsewhere.
Is your course religious or open to anyone?
The AIR Course is not a religion based course and is open to anyone of any faith or belief system. AIR does not teach in the name of any specific religion, religious or biblical figures, or icons.
