TIGERS EYE
Tigers Eye is a gorgeous crystal that has a chatoyance or 'cat's eye effect', an optical effect caused by the fibrous structure of the stone. It is also an ancient crystal, having been used in jewellery and for healing for thousands of years.
It has a protective quality on the physical and mundane levels, and can help with issues of self-esteem, confidence, and bullying.
It is one of the first crystals that often catches peoples eye on our stall when the AIR school does fairs, with its beautiful golden shimmer. Children especially seem to love it, which is perfect as children can often go through periods of being bullied.
It is mainly found in South Africa, and also has a very warming, and sunny energy.
It has a slower energy and can be a good stone for earthing, and can help keep someones feet on the ground. If you have a situation where you need to feel stronger and more protected when with other people, then this may be the stone to have with you. Tigers Eye is protective on the mundane and practical levels, rather than on the subtle unseen ones. For example, if you have to meet someone who you find a bit overbearing, this crystal can help you.
It should only be used on the lower 2 or 3 energy centres and should never be placed in patterns around someone as its energy is too dense, and therefore not suitable for higher chakras.
There is also a crystal called Blue Tigers Eye, or 'Hawk's Eye' which is very closely related to Tigers Eye. This also has protective qualities, but this time on the more subtle levels.
There is another stone called Tiger Iron, which is a mixture of Tiger's Eye, Red Jasper, and Hematite, and this is used as a very heavy duty grounding energy for those who can take it.
The stone 'Red Tigers Eye' is almost always not natural, and to my knowledge most of it, if not all on the market, is golden which has been artificially heated to turn it red.
